As summer days are quickly passing us by, it is oh-so-necessary to sit back, relax and take it all in. While sitting in the backyard enjoying the garden, it hit me. I needed a little sip of something refreshing to make this moment even more perfect.
So, I raided my shelves and came across an old fave – Hibiscus tea. It has aromatic notes of lemongrass and papaya while lending a bitter taste of rosehips into the mix. I really like adding frozen berries to my iced teas as it adds natural sweetness, colour and a hint of fresh flavour.
I also added a few sprigs of fresh Rosemary from the garden. I picked it fresh and gave it a little twist, which released the aromatic oils.
This was exactly what I needed 🙂
2 bags of hibiscus tea (always brew your tea double strength so when you add ice it doesn’t dilute the flavour)
1/2 cup frozen berries
2 sprigs rosemary
1 tbsp maple syrup
-Boil 2 cups of water and pour over 2 bags of hibiscus tea – brew for 5 minutes
-Add berries, maple syrup and rosemary to pitcher and when tea is ready, pour into pitcher and let infuse for 5-10 minutes. This will also allow the tea to cool off a bit.-Then fill the pitcher to the brim with ice and ENJOY!
If you feel like making sipping this as an alcoholic bevvy try adding in 1oz of Gin for a little kick!
Remember to sit back, relax and enjoy yourself this summer!
